Charity is Love in Action, and Patience is Living with Weaknesses.

This week! Its been really lovely! We saw some great miracles. We actually had an opportunity one day to practice teaching and then were blessed with the exact opportunity in real life! Super cool!  We knocked on someone's door and they let us in!
We had appointments with 3 different families this week! Its a really awesome opportunity for us to get to know the needs of members and teach them!
We met this potential Maria this week. Or rather she met us! We had gone to her house for an appointment but she didn't answer so we left a little note And went our way. But we didn't feel or know where to go! So we took a bus And tried to go downtown. As we got off a bus this lady stopped in her car "SORELLE SORELLE!!! SONO IO!!! SONO MARIA" she said she was going to meet her friend and we should come, so naturally we got in the car and went! Her friend was so lovely. Maria (who has know the sisters for a long time) started the conversation with whatcha how they pray! Pray sister pray! So we prayed together it was pretty cool!
I met this other lovely lady on the bus named Paola. We talked about families. I'm so grateful for my family. I'm so grateful we have families. Wouldn't be here with out mine! ðŸ˜‰
Italian Chinese food... it's a real thing and it's pretty good!
Italian poutine..... not a real thing but I've decided baked potatoes with pesto and melted gouda cheese makes a lovely substitute!
This week we celebrate Ferragosto. Everyone is heading to the beach! We accidentally took this bus this week that we knew took people to the beach but when they say it goes to the beach they mean it drives directly beside the shore line. It was so beautiful and I saw some flamingos in the wild! But we will never take it again! Comunque- It's going to be a great week!

I've been thinking about improving lately and what I lack yet. There is a good quote from a talk called Approaching the Throne of God with Confidence "acknowledge and face your weaknesses, but don’t be immobilized by them, because some of them will be your companions until you depart this earth life. No matter what your current status, the very moment you voluntarily choose honest, joyful, daily repentance by striving to simply do and be your very best, the Savior’s Atonement envelops and follows you, as it were, wherever you go. Living in this manner, you can truly “always retain a remission of your sins” (Mosiah 4:12) every hour of every day, every second of every minute, and thus be fully clean and acceptable before God all the time."
Yes I have area I can work on, but as long as I do my best I can be happy. And so we live "after the manner of happiness." (2 Nephi 5:27)

I love you all ! Don't give up hope! Love and be loved and live. Be patient with others. Be patient with yourself.
....isnt There a song like that?

We matched kinda this Sunday so we had to take a photo!

It's hot all over.

You may have heard things are warming up in Italy. Its true. Most people are at the beach. We are not. And that's okay!
This was a lovely week non the less! We are trying our best here. You think you know an area, and then you manage to get lost
Practically everyday. It's actually a little impressive. A little disheartening. But we aren't discouraged! We may be a little low on teaching and finding but that means we will be heading Onward and upward. We have been doing a lot of practice role plays to help us with our ability to teach and talk about who we are. It's help ful for the language but also it makes you get to the point. We are here and we are teaching about Christ. Let's not beat around the bush ;) so we have tried to do that a little more this week and it's been awesome!  It's interesting to hear who Christ is to different people. Who's is Christ to you? Friend? Stranger? Brother? Helper? Saviour?

Spiritual thought this week: "From latter-day revelation we know that the Godhead is comprised of three distinct and separate beings: our Father in Heaven; His Only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ; and the Holy Ghost. We know that “the Father has a body of flesh and bones as tangible as man’s; the Son also; but the Holy Ghost has not a body of flesh and bones, but is a personage of Spirit. Were it not so, the Holy Ghost could not dwell in us.”
My message today focuses on the importance of the Holy Ghost in our lives. Our Father in Heaven knew that in mortality we would face challenges, tribulation, and turmoil; He knew we would wrestle with questions, disappointments, temptations, and weaknesses. To give us mortal strength and divine guidance, He provided the Holy Spirit, another name for the Holy Ghost.....The Lord knows the needs of all His children—and He knows who is prepared to help. If we let the Lord know in our morning prayers that we are ready, He will call on us to respond. If we respond, He will call on us time and time again and we will find ourselves on what President Monson calls “the Lord’s errand.” We will become spiritual first responders bringing help from on high." I'm trying my best to be a first responder here in Italy. It's hard but it's worth it. God wants to talk. Do we listen? And do we know his voice?

Highlights of this week include :
Wedding - we sang in the choir which was lovely! Amare Gesù our savoir love which is one of my fav!
Lunch today was super yummy!
Gesso or like a mostra we lay out a sheet in centro and do surveys! = 1 hour long English conversation about God! In English too!
even more getting lost and found again
Bought a dress today! Its the end of sale season here!
Found touques (we are canadian)
We saw delfini (dolphins)
It's still hot.

Vi voglio benissimo! Fate i vostro meglio! È Dio vi conosca! Non scoraggiate  e non temere!
Alla prossima!!

Two Canadians walk into a church in Cagliari...

Wait a second you said 2 Canadians?! That's right two (2) Canadians are now preaching the gospel here. They happen to be companions too! Her name is Sorella Cook! From Alberta Canada! I didn't realized how patriotic I am until she said "eh" and I felt at home. She only just recently got here to Italy so we are learning together! We get lost but that's okay! We have had a lot of experiences already of people asking if we are Mormons right out of the blue! It's been a great way to talk to people that's for sure!

I was living the trio life a little this week. One sister in our house went home this week! I love sorella Carver and luckily techniqually I can still call her that! So her companion joined us as she left Monday morning. After transfers were announced sorella fielding was able to tell me about her work because I am now Cagliari Sorella B instead of A. Sorella Tacchi is also still here. We just got split up with new companions! It's been strange having my old companion so only one room over close! But fun too! It's been an interesting few days seeing just how well i actually know the city!
It also came to me this week my spirit animal. (Drum roll please) A Badger. Sneaky. Cute. Funny. .... I'm still debating so please feel free to give your input.

I'm so gratefulalso for the amazing people I've met. There are some people who deal with so much heavy stuff but carry on so gracefully.its amazing. I'm humbled to be in their presence. I've been given so much in my life I've taken for granted.

I studied a little this week about the power of God on earth. Or what is known as the priesthood. This is powerful stuff that has been given to man to act in God's name to accomplish His work.and right now I'm a part of that! In our church we have the super cool and amazing blessing of the line of authority. Every worthy priesthood holder can trace where he got his priesthood back to Jesus Christ! And usually that l ones not to long! We have this amazing blessi g so we can bless other. In fact Heavenly father gave us the admonition in D&C 121
39We have learned by sad experience that it is the nature and disposition of almost all men, as soon as they get a little authority, as they suppose, they will immediately begin to exercise unrighteous dominion.
40 Hence many are called, but few are chosen.
41 No power or influence can or ought to be maintained by virtue of the priesthood, only by persuasion, by long-suffering, by gentleness and meekness, and by love unfeigned;
42 By kindness, and pure knowledge, which shall greatly enlarge the soul without hypocrisy, and without guile
43 Reproving betimes with sharpness, when moved upon by the Holy Ghost; and then showing forth afterwards an increase of love toward him whom thou hast reproved, lest he esteem thee to be his enemy;
44 That he may know that thy faithfulness is stronger than the cords of death.
45 Let thy bowels also be full of charity towards all men, and to the household of faith, and let virtue garnish thy thoughts unceasingly; then shall thy confidence wax strong in the presence of God; and the doctrine of the priesthood shall distil upon thy soul as the dews from heaven.
Sorry that's kinda long but it's so good when you ponder it out. We have such an amazing powerful gift but we are to use it only with the Lords purpose in mind and with love.

The adventures this week include preparing for a new missionaries arrival, fancy water glasses, pizza basil, sorella cook! Also they have these little baby gecko lizards here. One found it's way into the church! It is still hot so no major weather news.

I love you all so very much!

"It's like the desert, all we need are camels"

t's been another beautiful and hot week. I've found a very good conversation starter is "Mama mia! Che caldo fa oggi!" Or Goodness me! Its so hot today! (Though literally translated : my mother, how hot it makes/does today!....more or less)
There's your Italian lesson for the week!
I had the opportunity to work with two other sorelle this week Sorella Carver who just went home today ðŸ˜¢ and sorella Cardullo in Sassari which is located at the top of Sardegna.
I loved working with Sorella Carver, she is such a lovely example of striving right till the end, Never giving up, Loving the people, finding joy in the little things.
Sorella Cardullo was in the Napoli zone with me so it was super fun to see her again! And Sorella DeMann who replaced me in Battipaglia! It was a fun strange little reunion!she is amazing at talking to people. At one point I was just listening and learning from this conversation we were having with two girls. Afterwards I realized I should have talked too and helped her out but I didn't even know what to say! It was a great time! Sassari is a beautiful city!(Group picture)

Other adventure: we drove the car on an 1 hour adventure to visit a lovely lady.
We had an amazing ward activity!
We saw dolphins! (pictured)
We made lasagne (pictures)
We made meatballs and brushetta for pranzo or lunch with a member! So good (picture)
Celebrated the end of a mission with mega gelatoes! (Pictured)
And We bought a mega watermelon! Anguriamo (meaning: we watermelon. Not something real people say)

Other good quotes of the week:
If we always look in the mirror thinking we are enough we never grow.

Il Vangelo e sempre gioia. Anche se le circostanze sono infelice.(the gospel is always joy. Even if the circumstances are unhappy.)

It's true our purpose it to help people be ready to be baptised and show Our Heavenly Father they are ready and willing to walk the path of disciple ship but "If we baptised a person without a testimony, we baptise a sack of potatoes."
Fratello Floris we rent just walking the streets trying to baptise people, we are trying to help people have a good day. A good life. And I am lucky because I have found joy and peace and a lasting happiness in my faith/living this gospel and in my saviour Jesus Christ and my Heavenly Father . But if you don't want to know more or be baptised, that's your choice. We cannot steal others right to choose. That is a sacred gift.
That is a little what I studied recently. Also about repentance being a joyful process of change and of improving! Sometimes that word seems negative, but it's just changing and becoming better! We should rejoice for the opportunities to improve!

Last full week of this transfer

You'll have to forgive me I was just napping under an olive tree (photo attached) instead of writing my email... vi scusa!
But some important lessons learned this week:
Sorella Tacchi and I both play the bass!
Sorella Tacchi hit 16 months on the mission(photo)
Watermelon and bread are yummy...sepratly, i didn't try them together.(photo)
Strawberry granita can and should be topped with panna or whipped cream (photo)
We asked this lady who was speaking English where she was from "the ship" (as in the cruise ship...)
There are flamingoes here. They look funny when they fly!
It was plus 42 the other day.....
People are nice when you start talking to them, but you have to start!
God answers prayers.sometimes fast and sometimes slow and sometimesreally slow.  One way he does that is through scriptures. Through feelings, memories, and other people. But if we are listening and are open. We will hear and understand Him.
God's grace is sufficient for all those who chose it. Who are willing to give up something good for something better.
Keep trying.
Speak with kindness, but always speak the truth.

Google Maps isn't always right

This week! Mama Mia! It flew by and was full of adventures!
Because we are both new here we had quite a few adventures led by Google maps. Including climbing a huge hill instead of going around. Riding a bus with only 7 seats. Riding said bus to the middle of nowhere. And finding a new bus out. Pictures of that adventure attached. Including the cantaloupe in a bag I found. After i took that picture a man picked it up as he walked by. I mean it was pretty safe looking!
We also celebrated the fourth of July! It was just like Canada day, so I was pretty happy!
This week I was struck with the beauty and importance or reverence. Of respecting. Showing through actions and thoughts.
I thought about how crazy it is to be a representative of Christ! Dare to be Mormon, dare to be alone. Dare to make it known!
I thought about how sometimes God asks us to do hard things. Or just in general, hard things happen in life. Like really hard, and sometimes is doesn't get better. But with God we can have the strength and the determination and the hope to go on and to see the joy we are meant to have. It is still hard. But it's good. Alma 2:27-28.
And I learned that families are important. The world started with Adam and Eve choosing to be a part of a family. Choosing parenthood and all that goes with having a family! And at the end -no matter what title we go by in life, what we do, what social ranking we assume- we are a part of a family. And that's the relationships that should define us. We start and end the same. Our lives are shaped by those we love and those who love us. And that's a beautiful thing. Not a burden.
I'm not sure that made sense. But I'm thankful ful for my family.

Here's a fun quote that was timely for me!

"If we deny change, we deny the Atonment of Christ."

Love you all so much!

News News

Happy Canada Day all! It was celebrated here too!
The big news we learned today was the mission presidents wife is ill. So send good thought and prayers!
This week I had to go back to Battipaglia to pick up my visa! So I got to see Sorella Romero again and all my favourite places and my favourite members! It was amazing! And now I am allowed to stay here legally! It was also interesting because I traveled alone. I once heard the true test of character is determined on what you do when you are alone. The good news is I still was able to help and share my testimony! I actually met this girl on the train who I had previously met! And she remembered us! What are the chances!?!
We were able to see a lot of answers to prayer this week. So many open hearted people we were able to talk to and  invite to change. It's a good reminder that God is good. He watches over me. And you!
Some things I learned:
Goat's milk is not good.
Pineapple or frozen banana is good.
It is possible to have a 6 course meal.
A good way to start a conversation is to ask what a watermelon is called in Italian.
Always smile.
Think good thoughts and you'll always look good.
I read a couple good things too:
"...a phone call came when I was a bishop—this time from the police. I was told that a drunk driver had crashed his car through the glass into the lobby of a bank. When the bewildered driver saw the security guard with his weapon brandished, he cried, “Don’t shoot! I’m a Mormon!”
The inebriated driver was discovered to be a member of my ward, baptized only recently. As I waited to speak to him in the bishop’s office, I planned what I would say to make him feel remorseful for the way he had broken his covenants and embarrassed the Church. But as I sat looking at him, I heard a voice in my mind say, just as clearly as if someone were speaking to me, “I’m going to let you see him as I see him.” And then, for a brief moment, his whole appearance changed to me. I saw not a dazed young man but a bright, noble son of God. I suddenly felt the Lord’s love for him. That vision changed our conversation. It also changed me....If you walk with the Savior long enough, you will learn to see everyone as a child of God with limitless potential, regardless of what his or her past may have been. And if you continue walking with the Savior, you will develop another gift He has—the ability to help people see that potential in themselves and so repent." From the talk Walk with Me by President Eyring

"If clouds instead of sun spread shadows o’er our heart,
If pain afflicts us, never mind; we will soon know who Thou art.
Jesus guides us with His hand, and He will tell us why;
If we listen to His voice, He will tell us by and by.
Confide in God unwaveringly, and let Him us sustain;
Sing His glory endlessly, for later He’ll explain.:
From the talk "Confide in God Unwaveringly"By Elder Ulisses Soares, Of the Presidency of the Seventy

I love you all! Hi Voglio tanto bene.
Thank you for your good thoughts! Stay tuned for next week!
