Miracles through Gelato

I am so humbled to be able to be a part of this work. I consider myself not a very good teacher or speaker but I felt this week that I do have something to offer otherwise I wouldn't be here. So now I just have to figure out what that is and how I can use my skills and talents to bring others to Christ.  It's been a pretty steep learning curve so far, and I can't wait for next week!
The pictures include a carousel in a piazza, my motto on my desk (grazie a sorella Griffin), Salerno,  and my District!
Oooo also tried Napoliano pizza gusta diavolo. Delicious.
Ciao ciao
Sorella Lalonde
PS (sent to Emily) I got to hold this owl too... I think it was blind or something. We found it after English group. And when we were petting it this other Italian guy (they were all Italian obviously)  started playing the Harry Potter theme song. It was brilliant

Here we gooooo!

Salve ! Okay I'm here: Italy! The plane was long but good! They didn't sit me next to my group so I sat by myself, but on the long plan over to Italy I sat beside this Italian man who would quiz me on conjugating and what do you call a fork,or a knife in italian! It was so sweet! He ended up giving me his little card with info and said if I ever needed anything in Rome I should call him! So gave him my email too! Then we met our president and his wife. The misson pres is amazing and so is his wife. And the villa is beautiful!! That first day they took us to the coliseum. And around Rome a little becasue although we are called to the Rome Italy mission, some people never get to serve there [in Rome]. All my pictures are on other people's devices soooo.... the first two days was training stuff and then we got assigned! For My first area I will be in the Battipaglia area - including Salerno in the Napoliano Zone! My new trainer is Sorella Romero fromTexas. But because she was a Sister training Leader she was heading to Rome when I was heading here so I ended up staying in Rome while my group went to thier places ( one elder is also here in Battipalglia too) and was put with two Rome sisters. Sister Hunter is who I ended up up being with becasue her companion had training too. So that was really AMAZING! We had a wild time and missed lots of trains but we got to talk to lots of people (I didn't talk she did it) and had a lot of fun together. We also had a pretty wild English class.... ma non importante... and now im here in Battipalgia! The First week in the field went by super Fast! But it's been amazing! . Battipaglia and Salerno are beautiful and there's lots of work here for us to do. I'm doing great! Physically, mentally, and spiritually. Though at the end of the days my head hurts from all the Italian, my feet hurt from walking, and my spirit gets a little tired, but I think that means I'm doing my best! So all is well. The branch is small here but that just means we have work to do. We do have investigators we just haven't met them yet! Sorella Romero is an amazing Person! I'm super glad to be here with her. Our plan is to teach everyone we meet the doctrine of Christ. Our first Sunday this lovely old lady invited us to Pranzo (lunch) which was so gooooooood. Apparently I speak real good so now I'm just trying to open my mouth a little and start talking. It's hard enough to do that in English but I get lost in Italian. It takes all my brain energy to follow what they are saying. But I'm working on it! My favourite quote of the week me and Sorella Hunter saw on the train window << Rispera, รจ solo una brutta giornata, non una ruota vita>> which translates as "breath, it is only a bad day, not a bad life."  Here's a lot of Pictures! There's a few from Salerno from today, the view out our window (such a huge apartment like so close to the church. We have three Balconies!) Oranges, the bathroom at church, the dinner of Champions, my companion, confetti from festival that happens this month (literally this whole Plaza was COVERED it was Amazing! And there was a carousel and kids running around in costumes like some movie) and some funky buildings we don't live in! Ciao ciao

Last Week at the Missionary Training Centre

Ciao Ciao!Well, this is it! Last week! we fly for Italy  Monday morning!!! This week has gone by super fast. some highlights were we past our one month and had popcorn. we tried an "english fast" were we could only speak Italian for 6 days...It lasted two days....but its super helpful to Speak your Language. that's how they teach it here. form day one your teachers speak mostly in your new language and then over time you are supposed to Speak your language ad much as possible. I am still trying to speak Italian as much as i can because it does really help the learning. We had infield Orientation yesterday which was a bunch of workshops about some things we need to know before we leave. How to Plan, how to Find, and how to Involve people in helping us. It was really interesting! irealized I have been an awful member missionary because I rarely if ever was able to help the Missionaries with their job! so my missionary commitment this week for you all is to help other around you come to Christ and Pray for opportunities to serve! This thing most on my mind this week has been Christ and who he is to me. And who I want to become by the end of this mission. WE talked about how In order to grow, sometimes a gardener cuts down the plant. That's also like us sometimes.
The other dolce part about this week was we met the new mission presidency for the MTC (the couple in charge around here). they came to our Sunday meeting because he served in Italy! He said I've got a good Italian accent so that's really cool to hear!!
Next week I assume I will have lots more to write!
the pictures are pretty self explanatory.

Missionary Training Centre Week 4

Another week gone by my friends! lots of learning this week and fun times too! top 5 were.... 5)learning that Family History is an awesome way to talk to people about our beliefs!!!! I never thought about it before but everyone has families and Family History / know who you are is important to all the people!!! I also really love family history so maybe I'll find some one to teach too about it!!!! 4)I met an Elder Cheng (?) who is from Toronto Ontario! and a Sister from Albert who knew some people i know too!3) Sorella Griffin our teacher took us around the main building yesterday and we went and looked at all the pictures of Christ! it was amazing- mostly because i miss art- but also because Christ is the best teacher. And as I try my hardest i need to remember his example and just teach about Him and his amazing love for us. All of us. One picture was Jesus calling his Disciples of the shore and she said we cant really tell if this is the first of the second time he had to do this. but if it was the second time, imagine how Christ would feel. He had to go find his Friends again who had gone back to where they were originally. Imagine how peter felt after having just denied the savior three time and having Him ask << Do you love me?>> exactly three time. She said he must have been thinking something like Peter, We have been at this shore before. You don't have to be here! you know the way you should go! be my disciple and feed my sheep. That really hit me. He wants us to keep moving forward and coming unto him. not go back to whats good when something better is in sight. 2) we also hear from 2nd counsouler in the presiding bishop brick whose main message (or at least what I got out of it) was that with out Christ we wouldn't be here. Its because He is Risen that we have Hope and Joy in this life. I think this sums it up pretty well : We were talking over lunch the other day with some other people in our zone and the question where would you go if you could came up. And i answered <<Ireland! I'd love to go there....mostly because of my love of sheep!>> to which Anziano (elder) Friar Replied <<THEY HAVE THE CUTEST SHEEP IN IRELAND!>> he is now my favourite person. All the love! PS only one more week and then ill be writing from ITALY!!!! OH I FORGOT! favourite Scripture this week!!!! Bible -> Romans Chapter 8 verse 16-18 and 35-39 (though the whole chapters amazing!)16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spiritthat ware the children of God: 18 For reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us....35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulationor distress, or persecutionor famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. 37 Nay, in all these things ware more than conquerors through him that loved us. 38 For am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nothings to come, 39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.The pictures are of the mountains this morning, Sorella Mannings Awesome Hair. and some word art I did on the board!  17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that wsuffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.
