Have we rested on this plateau long enough?

First week on the beautiful island of Sardegna. Summer is heating up. Literally. We were around 39 degrees today! The week flew by. We had zone conference this week which was an amazing answer to prayers. I've been wanting to work on everything but didn't know what to do but I was able to see where I need to start. I saw the plateaus I could abandon to move forward and upwards. That's what the conference was about. Something else I learnt was not to forget the bible. As a mormon missionary alot of what we talk about is the Book of Mormon. However the bible is also scripture and deserves our study time. Together we have the fullness of the gospel. So I started from the beginning and it's been awesome! A chapter I read that hit me was in John 15. With out Christ we can do nothing. It's worth a read through.
We met the lady the other missionaries have been working with and she is lovely and Brava and I'm really excited to be here and help her. She wants to quit smoking and that's something I don't have a lot of experience with. So it's really cool to be here and learn with her how to brake habits and start doing better new things instead.
Other lessons learnt. Don't get on a random bus, it might take you to a neighbouring city instead of back downtown. Air conditioner busses are beautiful. McDonalds gelato tastes the same even though it's called gelato and not ice cream. Non Italian foods can still be found in Italian supermarkets. Some cakes even though they are beautiful can taste like garlic (teaches me not to judge. That was a good lesson on Sunday. Disgusting but good.) Pizza at 10 is good. Gardening is good. We like cleaned all the roots off. Driving in Italian is scary. But now I can drive in Italian! That's right this girl is licensed!

Today we did this huge (30 minutes feels pretty long now a days ) hike. Member that far off hill in last week's pictures? We hiked there today! See all the pictures!

New City... New Transfer... What!?!

That's right folks, Sorella Lalonde has been transfered tooooo...(drum roll please) Calgari  (kinda pronounced like Calgary but no r and a soft g) on the beautiful island of Sardegna!  I'm here with Sorella Tacchi from England! We live in a four sister house but this time all the sisters are in the same ward Here!  The members are super Bravi! Super awesome and the other Sorelle have been working with someone whose husband is already a member and she is trying to quit smoking so we already have some Work!  Sorella Tacchi and I are both new here so we are both learning the area and the members and everything together! It's been Fun!  And kinda Hard!  We were going to meet with a church member our second day and we were trying to figure out what to talk about and we decided when in doubt, talk about Jesus Christ. We also got lost but found a beautiful look Out!  Picture 1.
I'm sad to have left Bari after only 6 weeks, it's hardly enough time . But I'm super glad to be here doing the Lord work wherever it brings me. Every day is hard but its worth it to know you are working with the Lord  to help our Heavenly Father’s children, our brothers and sisters, find a little bit more peace and joy. And it's sad when people don't want to talk to you but I am here to be a light and a beacon to those who are ready .  Sardegna is beautiful but mama Mia it's hot. Very hot. The flowers are lovely though. Very magical.

PS: I've also been thinking about the faith cycle..
Faith in Christ  (and also in yourself and your future with Christ) --> leads to change or repentance --> leads to making covenants like Baptism (promise to follow Christ so that he can help us --> leads to the gift for us to have with us always the Holy Ghost ( the third member of the God head who can help us stay close to Christ) --> good Works--> more faith --> more change --> sacrament/ renewal of promise (or new covenants)--> more good Works and piano piano we become more and more Christlike until we can be perfect like he is.
It's hard, " but if it weren't for the high hurdles oth r rs may outrun you"

Remember Remember Remember

What a lovely Week!  Working with the members. Getting to know the city. Finding and talking to all types of people. It's a real Blessing to be here!
I had a really awesome experience this week I thought I'd share. We were teaching a lesson about Baptism. We believe in Baptism by immersion because- at least for me- we are to be spiritually reborn. A new beginning that we get to renew every week as we take the sacrament. And as we were explaining this I just was so grateful that I had made the decision at age 8 to be baptized. It's change my life every week. Every bad day. Every time I make a Mistake or wish I could be better. I can leave those awful feelings at the Lord's feet and take his yoke upon me, whose yoke is easy and whose burdens are light. I can live in tandem with the Lord!  I'm so so grateful.
But I'm really grateful for remembering  "We each have moments of spiritual power, moments of inspiration and revelation. We must sink them deep into the chambers of our souls. As we do, we prepare our spiritual home storage for moments of personal difficulty." You Know Enough by Elder Neil L. Andersen Of the Presidency of the Seventy.

As for adventures we also had a lot of those this week. Today we had p day with a member in Trani which I would highly recommended and plan to go back.  The other day we took this bus to see where it went. Don't do that unless you know where it goes. It was the sketchy bus. But we met some cool people so in the end worth it. But don't try it at home. I got a new bed too! It's lovely! The one I had was good, but this one you can't even hear me when I get up! It's perfect!

That's a wrap!

Zone Conference

The highlight this week was an amazing zone conference that really makes your week even better! Also this hilarious bus driver who had the whole bus isn't stitches it was fabulous! Not too much to report this week. I trimmed my companions hair! The panzorotti and focaccia here are amazing too! We have a lady we are teaching who is simply an amazing  blessing for me to know her. And we talked to lots of amazing people this week. And the members here are Amazing!
These are thing that inspired me this week.
I know that Heavenly Father loves us and knows us. He will answer our prayers. We must have faith and hold on sometimes to the answers we get, especially if it's not what we want or expect. I know families can be together for ever. For eternity. I know that Christ lives and we have again His gospel on the earth. I know the book of Mormon is the word of God, and is evidence of this grand restoration.

Share with me a little testimony!
"Generations are affected by the choices we make. Share your testimony with your family; encourage them to remember how they felt when they recognized the Spirit in their lives and to record those feelings in journals and personal histories so that their own words may, when needed, bring to their remembrance how good the Lord has been to them."
Lest Thou Forget

Another interesting thing : Tuning Our Hearts to the Voice of the Spirit

One of the best blessings we can receive as we learn to hear the voice of the Spirit is the ability to see ourselves as we are seen by our Father in Heaven and, “slowly by slowly, small by small,” become our very best selves.
Consider this beautiful quote from a latter-day Apostle: “The gift of the Holy Spirit … quickens all the intellectual faculties, increases, enlarges, expands and purifies all the natural passions and affections, and adapts them, by the gift of wisdom, to their lawful use. It inspires, develops, cultivates and matures all the fine toned sympathies, joys, tastes, kindred feelings and affections of our nature. It inspires virtue, kindness, goodness, tenderness, gentleness and charity. It develops beauty of person, form and features. It tends to health, vigor, animation and social feeling. It develops and invigorates all the faculties of the physical and intellectual man. It strengthens, invigorates and gives tone to the nerves. In short, it is, as it were, marrow to the bone, joy to the heart, light to the eyes, music to the ears, and life to the whole being.”

Bari Libertà here we go!

For all those who didn't get to see me yesterday.... most of You... I'm still alive and very well. This week went by so Fast!  I had an appointment for my Permesso to be here and then the week just flew by! I'm loving it here its beautiful and there is a lot going on. We have this couple we are teaching who are just so sweet. This city also has buses which means less Walking!  But we also get fed a lot.  Which means harder morning workouts. The other sisters here are super healthy so that's a blessing too !

I got some advice to share a little more spiritually how I am. I have learned a lot about God lately. He wants to give us blessings. And everything we need to be happy. But He also know when you need it to make you the happiest. And it's a little harder that way, but a little more enriching too. I'm learning a lot about walking by faith. Like excersise, you don't see the results of faith after your first work out. Maybe after week. But even then not really.  But after time- you don't even really see the full effects - you are changed. It's the perseverance that's shapes you. And I'm totally still learning this all so I'm not perfect. But with Christ's help we can all do it. And I am so great full for this wonderfully beautiful opportunity.

New Transfer, New City!

That's right I'm in Bari Libertà with Sorella Bellomo Now! She's from Milan so my italian game is improving! It's beautiful here! It feels a lot like Toronto! Busses and the city Life!  I'm really looking forward to working here with the Sorelle. We live in a four sister house now Too!
I don't have tanto tempo oggi. But the Lord has really blessed us with miracles and we have been able to meet so many people who are so open.

A little spiritual thought before signing off: you don't need to be rich to change the world. You just need a willing heart and good Works.  The Lord can make up the difference.

last week of transfer 2

This week we were sick. Allergies or a cold. It started Tuesday and we are still  little under the weather. But despite that we were still able to see miracles! We met some lovely people on the trains to and from Napoli who were just so Nice!  It was a lovely blessing this week! People who are interested in taking about life and how we can deal with struggle . Even if for you it hasnt been God nessasarliy in whom youve found help, we all have way and things that help us. I've recognized lately though that every good thing does come from God.i was also given the opportunity to choose a little his week. As it is the end of my training diciamo I was more in charge of our planning. It easy easy because we stayed at home a lot. But we have such a blessing with agency nd the opportunities to choose and to walk our own paths. We just must be firm and steadfast for what we know is good and true and right.
I was also able to practice my soup making skills which turned out Alright!
Picture of italian mountains and cotton candy adventures.
Love you all
Alma 31:38 And the Lord provided for them that they should hunger not, neither should they thirst; yea, and he also gave them strength, that they should suffer no manner of afflictions, save it were swallowed up in the joy of Christ. Now this was according to the prayer of Alma; and this because he prayed in faith.

in bocca al lupo

Another week full of miracles. Also hard times and steep learning curves. We aren't teaching anyone really so a lot of our week is full of walking around  and talking to people. So we meet a lot of really interesting people. We met this couple who were firmly atheists and told us about all these psychological religious ideas and it was pretty interesting I'm just glad I Understood!  I feel like we have actually met a lot of people who don't believe whether it's in the church or even in God. I thought I wouldn't meet any here where the Pope lives ! But I think people loose hope and then faith. It's a very trying world we live in. The only way I can even think of making it through is to at least have hope for a brighter better future. An not just hope, but active hope. Making everyday reflect what you hope for. If you hope to be slimmer, take the effort to work out. If you hope for a date, call the guy. If you hopeful a better world, make one. Raise you expectations of yourself. You CAN do it. And that's faith.
I also learned that although things are hard you should embrace it because it draws you closer to the Savior. The author and finisher of faith. And in the end you'll have more empathy for those who are also learning.

These are talks that have impressed me lately

Oh and the other fun thing I learned in bocca al lupo.  It means in the mouth of the wolf but it's like break a leg. I didn't know own why though. Yesterday this lady explained because the younger wolf's are safest in the mother wolf's mouth!

Ciao Ciao
We had our zone conf this week which was amazing! I love our president and his wife and always feel really energized to do the work. I'm depending on the parable a picture is worth a million words today.
I saw a lot of miracles and answers to prayers this week. I know we have a living prophet on the earth. If you haven't heard what he said lately check it Out!

La reggia in Caserta #P.DAY

This week I and the opportunity to go to Caserta. So beautiful there. The crazy thing that happened this week- we were going to look for a member of the church to check up and see of there is anything we can help her with. But when we arrived at the address we had we learned it was sbagliata or wrong.  So we asked around, it was a pretty small town. One man said up the hill (mountain) was a girl by that name so we started up. He didn't say which house though so we had to check every mailbox. This lady yelled from her balcony who are you looking for!? And I realized how sketchy we looked. But we kept hiking and eventually found her! On our way down the carabinieri  (police) pulled up and asked for our documents. We explained who we were what we were doing and he's like oh! Okay that's fine. You shouldn't come up here just you two. There are having a problem with gypsies breaking into homes. (!!!!) but you are fine to go, actually we can give you a ride back to the city.  So we got to ride in the Italian police Car!  And then they pulled someone over while we were in the car. It was defiantly a an experience not to forget.
The miracle this week - we met this lady at the train station and we talked with her about peace and showed her the new easter video called prince of peace (y'all should look it Up! ) and she loved it! We took a selfie  together Even!  Peace in this life is possible despite the world's craziness. When you know who you are, where your going, and who's supports you. I know I am a daughter of God. I know that my family can live together forever, that there is something after this life. I know my Father in heaven and His son Gesù Cristo support me and love me.

I love this opportunity to share what I believe and the joy that comes  from knowing these things.

Follow your heart, or a stray dog

What an amazing week. It started with me realizing I need to step up my game. I won't aka ways be new and not speak Italian but in order to accomplish that goal I need to step up and be THAT missionary. To look at this mission and this work more eternally, this is a foundation for my life! So that's the mindset I took and I found I was able to actually work better. So that's my bit of advice. Whatever situation your in now, it won't always be that way! The only way to really change though is for you to Be prepared for that something bigger and better. Set the goal and make a plan to get there, and you will catch a glimpse of who you will be when you arrive.
We were heading home for Pranzo yesterday and didn't have a firm plan of where to head after to go find and talk to people. This random stray dog was walking kinda beside us and Sorella Romero said, let's follow it. I gotta a feeling. So we did. It lead us to this apartment building. And after lunch we went and rang all the people who lived there. The last one (forth floor last door style) invited us in to talk. It was Amazing!  She was a lovely lady and we had an amazing conversation about faith amazing day how to believe.  So my other price of advice is to follow a dog. Though please use discretion and I cannot confirm any results.

Also general Conference!  If you didn't get a chance to hear it, you should! It's an amazing opportunity to listen to a prophet and apostles. Even if you don't believe it, millions of others do, so why not TRY it out!

I love you all!

End of One transfer officially.

We are starting another transfer (6week period) here in Battipaglia!
Not to to much happened this week. Our hole purpose is to teach people so this week past and coming our goal is to find more people to share our gospel and testimonies about Christ and his restored church with. We visited an Italian cemetery which was very different but beautiful. Everyone brings so many Flowers!  With the transfers happening and sisters being moved around we spent a day in Napoli. There are no sister missionaries there because it's a little more dangerous being such a big city. But we survived a Day!

Love you all.

Sorella Lalonde

I forgot my miracle this week ! I had a conversation all on my own and we understood Each other!  I don't speak perfect, I guess I even sound too French.  I don't know the right words or grammar. But I'm making head way and piano piano ilk get there. My Heavenly Father has really blessed me with helping my learn this language but he won't give you anything with out a little effort on your part.
So if you want something as true to the faith puts it <<If you have a difficult task before you, Heavenly Father is pleased when you get on your knees and ask for help and then get on your feet and go to work. He will help you in all your righteous pursuits, but He seldom will do something for you that you can do yourself.>>

One Transfer Down!

I can't believe It! This is going by too fast! I bought a little notebook last Monday so I could write down our plans and important things. It's been very helpful. This week a new family from Brazil moved in, they are doing some family history work. They live fairly far away from us so we tried to go see them but after a train to agropoli, and a bus through the mountains (you really have to hold on and I've heard people get sick), we still didn't make it. We re-tried yesterday and did make it. It is so beautiful. Castlabate on the top of a mountain right next to the sea side. We saw this amazing sunset over the ocean(try number 1 not actually there but close). The pictures don't even measure up to being there. They are an amazing Family too so fun! She speaks Portuguese and he speaks English and a little italian so there's a little language barrier but it was the best Sunday ever!
This week we also went to visit our friend in Salerno but the train back got cancelled so all these people had to squish onto this little bus and we stayed out past our bed time ! But we did run into this girl we met a few weeks back on the train and she made sure we were alright and got onthe bus and home safely. It was so cute and a real Miracle!
I also got to Diciamo trian my city this week with exchanges. I was here with another Sorella and my companion was in Caserta. We made it to the appointments on time and didn't die so I'd say Success!
Also here you can go to the meat and cheese shops and they will make you a panino with thier fresh cheeses and meats and bread and it's seriously amazing. I also found this little like Indian grocery store and we bought coconut to eat.

Disney characters: Sleeping Beauty and Big Hero 6

Something sorella Romero likes to do when we plan our upcoming week  is to assign each other Disney characters we where like last week. Sorella Romero was sick this week. So she was sleeping beauty and I was the big cute blow up doctor robot from the movie big hero six. (We couldn't remember his name). We did another exchange this week so I went to Pozzuoli again for a day! It's so lovely there right next to the sea. I can't even believe it's real! We also visited a member in Agropoli which may just be topping the list of beautiful places here in the Battipaglia zone.
On Tuesday before Sorella Romero was mostly bed ridden (just a cold really but really needed to sleep) we were on route to an appointment when we passed this car. There was an older lady standing beside and a younger lady (the bedante) inside pulling at this older man to get out of the car. He has dementia and wasn't budging and they were like Reeaaaaallllyyyy frustrated and yelling and pulling and we felt so helpless. So we prayer, Reeaaaaallllyyyy prayed.  And as soon as we finished the man complied, and got out of the car. It was a miracle.
One of the Anziano (elders / masculine missionaries)  went to the hospital with stomach pains. He's got out today, it was just a virus I guess, but we got to go visit an Italian hospital. If you ever get stuck there,  bring your own toilet paper.
I read two amazing talks this week. Choose to believe by Whitney Clayton given in April 2015 ( I'd include the link but I'm not that capable, Emily maybe you can help here) and faith is not by chance but by choice by Neil L Anderson giving in October 2015. Both really great inspiring motivating talks that got me thinking where I stand. And to never give up hope or faith. To hold on to what you know is true and right. The world and Satan want you to doubt and to falter but we must stand firm, tall, and strong in our beliefs.

Vi voglio Bene  (literally translates to y'all I want well, but means I wish the best for you and love You!)

Italy Week 4: Another Week of Miracles.

So many miracles this week. Everywhere we went it seemed we found the person we needed to talk to that day. A lady from Brazil,  a couple on a train, or a lady who's was having a really hard day and needed a smile. It's amazing when you open your mouth the kinds of people you'll meet.  And although not everyone listens or wants to talk, just keep Trying! Someone needs your smile today.

So some of you may be familiar with the story of Ammon. For those what aren't, he was a missionary in the Book of Mormon who went out among the most hard hearted people to preach the gospel, ended up serving the kind of this city, defending his flocks, and converting the town to believe in Christ. Sorella Romero and I have decided we are going to be ammon like missionaries and serve the people. We've been asking around for out unites and we are following up on a lead tonight so I'll have to keep you posted, but a huge part of what i believe is that you just have to serve people. Serve them bevause thats what Christ would do. And love people, everyone deserves kindness. And sometimes he will work through you if you are willing to do some leg Work!

This week this man in a flower shop said I was so beautiful people could pray to me.
